Report of Telecom Sectoral Innovation Council

Telecom sector has to address greater challenges in the near future - like those of increasing rural penetration and proliferating broadband connections, where there is still a lot to be done, both in urban as well as rural areas. These challenges will need many more innovative products, services and solutions. Telecom Sectoral Innovation Council has, as per its mandate, deliberated on the issue of promotion of innovations in Telecom sector and prepared this report.

This report takes up various domains or subsectors of Telecom and discusses their present status, the opportunities for innovation and the ways to encourage and facilitate it. In other words, an attempt has been made to suggest ways to create an ecosystem for innovation in the sector. Key metrics to assess innovation in the sector have also been identified. Finally a Telecom Sector Roadmap for Innovation 2010-2020 has been outlined, keeping in view the thrust areas of the telecom sector for the present decade.

Report of Sectoral Innovation Council: Media & Entertainment

Media & Entertainment sector is relatively young in the country, but it is very vibrant and full of spirit. It is one of the few sectors of economy, which is very innovative and has been growing at 10-12 percent CAGR even during 2007-2010 when the overall economic scenario had been gloomy. In order to prepare a roadmpad for innovation, Government of India has set up Sectoral Innovation Councils, and the Council for the Media and Entertainment sector, set up by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, is one step in this direction. The Council, after almost eleven months of deliberations, has given certain recommendations, which if implemented, will create the right eco-system for fostering innnovation and generating further growth impluses for the sector.

Courts of Tomorrow: Working paper

The office of Adviser to PM, in consultation with the various stakeholders, has put together a draft paper on the Courts of Tomorrow. The Courts of Tomorrow initiative will put the best in class ICT tools in the hands of judges and the registrars, to aid them in the dispensation of justice. This initiative seeks to act as a force multiplier to the on-going ICT enablement initiatives of the Judiciary.

Report to the People 2011

Realising that innovation is the engine for national and global growth, employment, competitiveness and sharing of opportunities in the 21st century, the Government of India has declared 2010-2020 as the ‘Decade of Innovation’. To prepare a roadmap for innovation in the country, and formulate and implement a model of inclusive innovation, the Prime Minister constituted the National Innovation Council (NInC) in September 2010. The National Innovation Council began its work in November 2010 and is happy to present its first Report to the People which provides an overview of the activities and initiatives of the Council.
