Satyanarayan Gangaram Panchal, alias Sam Pitroda, who hails from Tikar, a tiny village in Halvad taluk of Surendranagar district of Gujarat, is now all charged up about the next revolution which he guarantees will be bigger, better. "It will change the way we are governed, it will change the way we are educated, it will change the way we deliver health care, it will change the way we farm, it will change the way we bank…nowhere in the world is something so revolutionary happening and it will mark the arrival of new India," affirms Dr Pitroda, who heads the National Innovation Council as part of his larger role as adviser to the Prime Minister on Public Information Infrastructure and Innovations.

The Planning Commission and the National Innovation Council are organising the first ever Hackathon on the 12th Five Year Plan (2012-17) on 6th – 7thApril 2013. The Hackathon will invite citizens to innovatively communicate the Plan through creative visualizations and software applications.

New Delhi: The Planning Commission became the latest government agency to interact with online citizens in a Google Hangout on Friday. The topics discussed included the purpose of planning, the need for accountability and decentralization. The plan panel is not new to social media, having set up a site for public comments and a Facebook page on the 12th Plan to an enthusiastic response last year.
